Balance in the Bog
The Coven's board is a third the size of the base-game factions, and most of it never leaves the bog — here's where all fourteen bounties actually are.
The situation
A smaller table, because it's a smaller faction
The Coven of Ugdenbog is the first faction you meet in the Ashes of Malmouth expansion, based out of Coven's Refuge in Act 5. Its bounty table is noticeably smaller than anything from the base game — fourteen bounties total, roughly a third the size of Devil's Crossing or Homestead's twenty. That's not a bug; the three expansion factions split forty-two new bounties between them, so fourteen apiece is simply the design.
The upside of the smaller board is that it's tightly clustered. Nearly all of it sits inside Ugdenbog and its immediate neighbors, so once you know the zone you know most of the table.
The method
A small board, still the same rules
Standard mechanics apply
Up to five bounties available at once, one active per faction, and a target only becomes killable for credit once its bounty has been accepted.
The Coven repeats itself — “maintaining balance in Ugdenbog” is the theme
Several bounties are framed as population control: too many basilisks, too many wendigo, too many carnivorous plants. That's flavor, not mechanics, but it means most of the kill bounties are simple hunts through the swamp rather than boss encounters behind locked doors.
One bounty's location text is misleading
Habnor's bounty describes threats “beyond the reaches of Ugdenbog,” which reads like it should still be in Ugdenbog somewhere — it isn't. The target is in Gloomwald.
The board
Where all fourteen actually are
Ugdenbog itself
- Venomgaze — five Venomgaze Basilisks, found throughout Ugdenbog.
- Poisoned Garden — Poisonous Blooms, easily found around Ugdenbog.
- Sllancar — Sllancar the Tainted, a Basilisk Hero with six possible spawn points at the heart of Ugdenbog.
- Vagarroth — Vagarroth the Insatiable, a Wendigo Hero with three spawn points in the cult camps around Ugdenbog.
- The Betrayer — Janaxia, located within Janaxia's Den, in Ugdenbog east of the Coven's Refuge.
- Undergrowth Queen — Sylvarria, located in The Undergrowth.
Gloomwald
- Habnor — Habnor the Void-Chosen, a Swamp Golem Hero with six possible spawn points in Gloomwald, despite the bounty text's vague phrasing.
- Carraxus Foul — located in the Den of Carraxus, a single-entrance lair in the northeast corner of Gloomwald.
Spanning both Ugdenbog and Gloomwald
- Ancient Wendigo — Ancient Wendigos spawn around both Gloomwald and Ugdenbog, so either zone can complete this one.
Malmouth
- Vanoxxis — Vanoxxis Bile, an Aetherial creation with four spawn points in the Malmouth Outskirts.
- Blazing Vanguard — Crognoth, an Aetherial Colossus Hero with four spawn points in the Malmouth Candle District.
Barrowholm Mine
- Chillpincer — a Crab Hero with three spawn points inside Barrowholm Mine, to the north of Ugdenbog.
The Ancient Grove
- Ragarroth the Tormented — a corrupted Manticore located at the end of the first level of the Ancient Grove.
Delivery bounty
- Mistborn Talisman — a relic crafted at any Blacksmith once you've found the blueprint; also requires a Troll Bonecrusher two-handed mace, which can be bought cheaply from the vendor in Fort Ikon rather than farmed.
The mixup
Two spots where the board gets confusing
Habnor sends you outside Ugdenbog despite how the bounty reads. The text talks about the imbalance “spreading beyond the reaches of Ugdenbog,” which sounds like a hint to search harder within the swamp. It isn't — the target is specifically in Gloomwald.
Mistborn Talisman needs more than its blueprint. Beyond finding the blueprint itself, crafting the relic also requires a Troll Bonecrusher. Buying one from the Fort Ikon vendor is far faster than farming a Mistborn troll for the drop.
Summary
- The Coven of Ugdenbog's bounty table has fourteen entries, smaller than any base-game faction because Ashes of Malmouth splits forty-two new bounties across its three factions.
- Six bounties sit inside Ugdenbog itself, and two more in Gloomwald, with one spanning both zones.
- Two bounties route through Malmouth — the Outskirts and the Candle District — and one each through Barrowholm Mine and the Ancient Grove.
- Habnor's location text is misleading; the target is in Gloomwald, not deeper in Ugdenbog.
- Mistborn Talisman is the board's only delivery bounty, and it needs a Troll Bonecrusher on top of its blueprint.
