The Shadowlands is where every soul from Azeroth (and beyond) is meant to go after death, divided into realms like Bastion, Maldraxxus, Ardenweald, and Revendreth, each tied to a different facet of the cosmic afterlife. Sylvanas Windrunner's shattering of the Helm of Domination pulled the Horde and Alliance into its politics directly.
At the center of it all sits the Maw and its ruler, the Jailer — a being who'd spent an eternity plotting to remake all of existence, and whose defeat closed out one of the game's most cosmology-heavy expansions.
