Backstory
Holtburg sits on the Aluvian frontier, a modest town of timber and stone that became the first sight of Dereth for a great many arrivals. Its inn, its allegiance quartermaster, and its portal to the wilds beyond made it a natural staging ground for anyone stepping off the road for the first time.
For Kaldor, Holtburg was where the sword was first drawn in earnest — training against the town's early threats before striking out toward Cragstone and the harder country beyond.
